PhD Thesis - Short Description

In my PhD thesis "Organic Solar Cell Architectures", I have been studying various types of organic semiconductors (dyes, polymers or "plastics", liquid crystals) as active light absorbing and charge transporting materials in solar cells. Some of these solar cells can convert about 2% of the solar radiation into electric power.

Most of the work on this thesis has been carried out while I was working as research assistant (Nov.1996-March 1999) in the optoelectronics group (Cavendish Laboratory) at the University of Cambridge (UK) headed by Prof. Richard Friend. I have submitted my thesis in July 2000 to my home University (Technical University of Graz/Austria) and received my PhD in October 2000.
